Art Trek 2018

Whoopee, Art Trek is here. Hello to everyone that has already visited, it has been so wonderful to meet so many lovely art enthusiasts, it’s great to hear about what you have seen and the arts and crafts you produce. Can’t wait for the next few weeks, and meeting so many more of you, I hope you all enjoy your visits.

I am at number 35 in the guide book, if you don’t have a book we have a few here if you would like to start your explorations with us. (hopefully I am easy to find with signs on the road and outside the house) The week after I am off on a holiday so catch me before I go.

August is here

… knit wear is perfect in this weather ….

Now that we are in (usually) the hottest month of the year I thought it was perfect time to start thinking about those chilly Autumn days, I knit all year round and a small selection of my work can be found in my studio, pop in any Friday and get prepared for the cooler months.

I see the sea

Wow what a marvelous exhibition the Brewhouse Theater put on ! A great space was available for me to display my work, and a few sales already, be quick to pop in and view the selection in Taunton as this is only up until 7th July. Here are a few photos, I think they look great, I hope you agree when you visit. ( please do comment in the visitors book, I love to hear your take on my work)

I am influenced by the changing coastal scenery and weather patterns in North Devon, where I live and work.  During beach walks I find objects to add to my work, each item bringing with it memories of a special day or moment enjoying the landscape.  I’m particularly inspired by the colours of the sea around Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde.  A gentle walk to overlook the rocks at Morte Point can fill me with the urge to put it to canvas.  I also take photographs on route and these have sometimes made their way onto the canvas alongside my beach finds.  Over the years I have experimented with various art forms and these mixed media skills have been incorporated in my latest pictures seen here.

Over recent years, there has been a growing understanding of the impact that taking part in the arts can have on health and wellbeing.  Personally; painting has given me great joy, inspiration and comfort throughout my whole life and particularly in recent years.  As my eye sight has changed my painting style has loosened and has become freer, it is now a closer expression of the pleasure I feel when exploring the countryside and coastal paths.  A day in the studio can also be a peaceful time to recoup and relax.  I hope my exhibition here at The Brewhouse may inspire other people to keep on painting and creating whatever life throws your way.

I open my garden studio every Friday for visitors so if you are ever in Braunton please do come and visit.
